This launcher has been rewritten in 2020 to use mainly a fake Java Native Interface to communicate with Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. Additionally shortly after the release of the first 64bit versions on the Google Play Store, this previously 32bit only Launcher has been ported to arm64 and x86_64.
- Sep 16, 2019 chmod og= filename. Give read, write and execute permission to the file’s owner, read permissions to the file’s group and no permissions to all other users: chmod u=rwx,g=r,o= filename. Add the file’s owner permissions to the permissions that the members of the file’s group have: chmod g+u filename.
- Right click the minecraft.jar hit properties then do execute file as a program. This works for me and for others. Most likely this should get your minecraft to work.
- Feb 20, 2021 Configure Minecraft Server. After the download, switch to the /server directory and start the Minecraft server: $ cd /server $ java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar server.jar nogui. For the first time, the server executes some operations, creates the server.properties and eula.txt files, and stops.
- Perform chmod recursive with -R or -recursive. If all your files and directories are under one parent directory then you can directly use chmod -R to assign the permission recursively. The syntax to modify the file and directory permission recursively.
Right click the minecraft.jar hit properties then do execute file as a program. This works for me and for others. Most likely this should get your minecraft to work.
AppImage¶
Prebuilt AppImage binary’sfor linux x86_64, x86, armv7 hardfloat and armv8 are currently available here.After downloading simply open terminal, chmod+xMinecraft_Bedrock_Launcher-x86_64.0.0.661.AppImage
and run it.With some Filemanagers you should be able to run it with double click, similar to running a *.exe
file on Windows.Otherwise run it from a Terminal ./Minecraft_Bedrock_Launcher-x86_64.0.0.661.AppImage

If it’s your first time you have installed an AppImage and you want an Icon in your startmenu
- install AppImageLauncher
- run the AppImage like before
- AppImageLauncher will ask you to integrate it, press yes
- You can now start and update the Launcher directly from your startmenu

Prebuilt macOS binary’s are currently available here.Always copy the App to a writeable location otherwise the updater won’t work.
